'The Flash' season 3 spoilers: Ashley Rickards cast as The Top

(The Flash / Facebook)"The Flash" season 3 premieres on Oct. 4, Tuesday, at 8 p.m. on The CW.

The CW's superhero series, "The Flash," returns for a third season this October. While fans wait for Barry (Grant Gustin) and friends' comeback on the small screen, a new name was just recently added to the cast members for next season.

According to E! News, "Awkward" alum Ashley Rickards will appear next season as Rosalind Dillon or The Top. Her character will be introduced in the fourth episode of season 3. The Top has the ability to make people's heads spin and she's considered as one of the most dangerous among the Rogues.

The Top was created in the comic book as a male criminal named Roscoe Dillon. In the fourth episode of season 3, Wentworth Miller will also appear as Captain Cold.

In a separate report from E! News, executive producer Aaron Helbing revealed that although the world in season 3 looks different from that in the previous seasons, Bary is embracing each moment of his newfound freedom. However, he realizes that resetting the time meant completely changing not only his own life but the lives of the people who used to be a part of his. He will also deal with the consequences of his actions.

EP Todd Helbing added, "There's consequences to every decision you make, and with Barry, it's a lesson that he keeps learning over and over, especially when it comes to time travel — the consequences are sometimes a lot more severe than you expect."

In a separate interview with IGN, Todd also revealed about the two new villains — Dr. Alchemy and speedster Savitar. The EP said that Savitar is more of a psychological villain, while Dr. Alchemy brings some darkness to the storyline. However, both of them share almost the same plans. Flashpoint's existence will also be thoroughly explained next season.

"The Flash" season 3 premieres on Oct. 4, Tuesday, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
