The premiere of 'The Hobbit 3: Battle of Five Armies' does not happen until December 17 this year, but in a recent update, director Peter Jackson suggested that he could possibly use some of the unseen Lord of the Rings footage for the third Hobbit film.

The spectacle that is bound to happen in The Hobbit 3: Battle of Five Armies, is heavily anticipated by fans worldwide.

Recently premiering the initial trailer at the San Diego's 2014 Comic-Con, the movie promises to be a cinematic wonder, especially with its 3D treatment and special effects.

Director Peter Jackson, in a recent interview, opened up the possibility of using unseen Lord of The Rings footage to supplement "Battle of Five Armies."

"There are a few scenes that haven't been seen from Lord Of The Rings, but not many. We might try to put them back in," Jackson said in the interview, as reported by Gigjets.

It's no surprise if this would indeed happen, considering the similar quality of LOTR's footage to the current quality of The Hobbit 3's production.

"It's a big logistical thing which hasn't wrapped our heads around. But if there's enough interest..." Jackson trailed off during the interview.

The Hobbit 3: Battle of Five Armies, premiered its trailer at the 2014 Comic-Con to over 6,500 attendees, most of whom were more than satisfied to get a first glimpse of the anticipated follow-up to "Desolation of Smaug."

Host Stephen Colbert received a special mention during the trailer premiere, being a die-hard J.R.R. Tolkien fan himself.

"That was really just for you, Stephen," Jackson said during the Comic-Con panel.
