'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' news: Producer says there's nothing more to say; hints that there may be no more sequels or spin-offs

The fourth "The Hunger Games" movie is coming out and fans know that "Mockingjay Part 2" is indeed the last movie in the franchise. Even so, this does not stop them from wishing for another sequel or maybe even a spin-off. Its producer, however, thinks there's no other way to extend the story.

The movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" trilogy have been extended to four movies, with the last book, "Mockingjay" broken down into two parts (much like J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows"). With "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" dropping in theatres this November, fans are starting to feel a stab of separation anxiety. As early as now, they're starting to ask if the franchise will again take another page from Harry Potter and do what they're doing with "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." They say they want a sequel. No, make that, they NEED a sequel.

Alas, producer Nina Jacobson thinks otherwise.

It would bode well for the producer to cave in to fan requests of a spin-off film. After all, the three films have collectively earned $2.3 billion. But speaking to Screen Crush, Jacobson says author Collins has successfully tied the story together with the last book and there's no other story to tell about Panem.

"For me, it'd be hard to imagine the Hunger Games without Katniss. If [author] Suzanne Collins ends up with some wish or desire to tell more stories, I will be there in a heartbeat. But, these movies have always been inextricably entwined with this character. We told her story. She's been on this journey and it feels very complete to me. I'm not sure there's any more to say, once you've told Katniss' story," she explains.

Even Collins herself had insisted that Katniss' (and maybe even the Districts') story is over. In an interview with The Wrap two years ago, she already put her foot down and said that no other Hunger Games book is coming out.

Bummer.

But that is not a reason to not catch the the fourth Hunger Games film. Watch Katniss' battle against President Snow end when "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" hits theatres this Nov. 20.
