It has been more than a decade since Disney Pixar's "The Incredibles" hit theatres nationwide. The movie has since been a commercial and critical success that audiences young and old almost expected a sequel to the animated flick right away. Unfortunately for them, it was only earlier this year that Brad Bird, director of the original adaptation, confirmed that a sequel is already in the works.

"Yeah (laughter), yeah. I mean, I'm just starting to write it, so we'll see what happens." Quipped Bird in an interview with NPR earlier in 2015 in April.

The director has since spilled details about the upcoming movie in an interview with Coming Soon and according to what he has revealed the ideas going into "The Incredibles 2" have been developed alongside the original run.

"I had a bunch of ideas that I wanted to put in "The Incredibles," but they just didn't fit. Certain ideas fit, but other things make you go, 'This is great, but I'd have to give up two other things that matter more to me to get this other thing in.' So there were a pile of ideas left over from "The Incredibles," but it's not a big thing."

More recently Disney Pixar has finally confirmed the release date for "The Incredibles 2" early this month. In a twitter post from Disney-Pixar's account, the company announced six of their upcoming project which includes "The Good Dinosaur," "Finding Dory" and "Cars 3" to name a few.

"We're proud to present the official release dates for our upcoming slate of films through 2019." Read their update.

It would be a little more than four years until "The Incredibles 2" would premiere. However, fans who have waited a decade are satisfied with the recent confirmation.

"The Incredibles 2" is scheduled to debut on June 21, 2019 in theatres nationwide.
