Captain Tom Chandler's (Eric Dane) travel to Asia will lead him to a reunion with a beautiful diplomat that he met in the past in the upcoming season of "The Last Ship."

When TNT released its teasers for the new installment, fans were immediately drawn to the woman who welcomes the captain in Asia. Sasha Cooper (Bridget Regan), who calls Chandler "the man who saved the world," is a former intelligence officer for the Navy. When the pandemic started spreading, she was sent to "New China" to function as liaison between the two countries. Sasha is particularly concerned in keeping the Chinese president, Peng Wu (Fernando Chien), in line, but as fans saw in the promos, the leader is one tough cookie to deal with.

Regan recently spoke to Buddy TV about her character, stating that Sasha knows Chandler pretty well. No wonder, they were seen kissing for a brief moment in one of the trailers released for the new season. Sasha, however, is determined to do her work as a diplomat, especially with China attempting to run away with the cure for the virus that wiped out almost eighty percent of the world's population. Chandler's arrival may turn her head for quite a few times, but she is determined to see it through.

"She's reunited with Tom Chandler and they have a past. They go way back and in some ways they are more similar than they would both like to admit and she challenges him in a way no one else on the ship does. At the same time, she trusts his judgement completely and she's on board with him. She has a relationship with Tom not like anyone else on the ship. Meaning, she knows a different side of him that no one else knows. That being said, Sasha is ready to put aside her emotions and get the job done," the actress shared.

TNT has decided to postpone the premiere of "The Last Ship" season 3 due to the recent mass shooting at the Orlando nightclub. According to Zap2it, the network has not yet announced when the two-hour premiere episode will air. It was previously scheduled to air on June 12 at 9 p.m. EST.
