'The Last Ship' season 4 spoilers: Sasha returns to help out the Nathan James crew

Sasha (Bridget Regan) will definitely be back to lend her support to the Navy in the upcoming season of "The Last Ship."
TNT has recently released a short teaser for the new installment where most of the scenes that took place last season show the pivotal moments where Sasha helped out the crew of the USS Nathan James with their missions. As an intelligence officer, she played a huge role, not only on Tom's (Eric Dane) fight against Allison Shaw (Elisabeth Rohm), but in the skirmishes that took place in Asia. Although Tom will not be aboard the ship in season 4, Sasha is expected to return and help out those left behind as much as she can.
Fans were disappointed when Tom decided to leave the Navy. He did not even have a proper goodbye with Sasha. The fight against Allison took its toll on the captain. He lost his father and his good friend Tex (John Pyper-Ferguson).
Showrunner Steven Kane previously confirmed that Regan would reprise her role in season 4. He said they intentionally did not give a proper closure to Sasha and Tom's relationship. Had Sasha gotten a chance to talk to Tom properly, the ending scene where he quit would not have been possible.
"All we were going to give then in Season 3 was a couple of kisses. It's very hard, when there's so much going on to save the world, to stop for the smaller indulgences. ... Yet I wonder if they had 'fully decompressed, would he have still left the ship?" the EP said, according to TVLine.
Meanwhile, Slattery (Adam Baldwin) is expected to take over the ship in Tom's absence. Life moves on at the USS Nathan James, even though they have lost an integral member of their squad. Tex's death will also serve as a grim reminder that the world they are now living in is fraught with danger. The threat is still around the corner. The fight for survival has not ended yet. Will the crew do well in their new quest?
"The Last Ship" season 4 is expected to start airing in 2017.
