"The Lego Movie" captured the imagination of millions of movie-goers worldwide. Although the movie didn't perform well at the Oscars, it was a box-office hit and a favorite among children.

While the second movie will take years to release, information regarding the movie's pre-production phase has already surfaced. The sequel to the first movie will simply be titled "The Lego Movie Sequel". This makes sense, since it is in line with the movie's humor that made it so awesome, reports Metro.

Casting hasn't been finalized yet, but actor Chris Pratt, who played the main lead Emmett's role, did express his desire to come back for the sequel. He told Metro, "I hope I'm back. I loved working with Chris and Phil and I hope Emmett is crucial to the story. But I can also see a world where they can kind of do anything and call it The Lego Movie 2."

Unfortunately, directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord won't be in the upcoming movie. Instead, Rob Schrab will be directing the sequel. Schrab is new to directing feature films, but he is bestowed with ample talent. He has been the director for "The Mindy Project", "Parks and Recreation", "Workaholics" and "Community" which means he is more than capable of directing "The Lego Movie Sequel".

In a Cinema Blend report, the plot of the second movie takes off four years later. Phil Lord and Chris Miller wrote the script that starts off after the events of the first movie. Emmett is having an existential crisis after learning that all his adventures were orchestrated by a kid playing with his father's Lego sets. Additionally, Finn gets much older due to the time-jump and enters his adolescence years. He could be getting too old to play with Lego. The movie is scheduled to release on May 25, 2018.
