'The Night Shift' season 3 spoilers: Drew is back from Afghanistan in episode 3

Drew forces to adjust after his mission in Afghanistan, and Topher learns family lessons from his mother in the upcoming episode 3, titled "The Way Back," of the third season of the American medical drama "The Night Shift."

Drew (Brendan Fehr) returns home after his stressful mission in Afghanistan. However, he can't seem to instantly flush out the crazy work he had overseas. Even though home is way more relaxed than working overseas, he, Jordan (Jill Flint) and Kenny (JR Lemon) are tasked to treat a bride (Lindsey Morgan) who got injured after her wedding party. The bride's father, who is present in the hospital, is making things even complicated.

TC (Eoin Macken), on the other hand, decides to help Topher (Ken Leung) entertain his mother after she extends her stay, which adds more stress to the family.

The promo trailer for "The Way Back" shows the different relationships of the characters. After straightening things out, TC tells Jordan that he wants her to be happy and Jordan also wants the same for him. Then, TC sees Jordan kissing another man.

In other news, TV Line reported that the premiere episode of "The Night Shift" season 3 got a much lower ratings with 4.8 million viewers compared to its 5.2 million ratings in season 2 premiere.

Meanwhile, here is the rundown of the previous episode, titled "The Thing with Feathers."

TC and Scott did everything they could to rescue a young boy and his mother who were injured following a car accident. However, as they try to revive the victims, the medical team realized that there is more to their family than what they thought. Drew and Syd, on the other hand, were deployed to Afghanistan. They faced the aftermath of the chaos in the operating room.

"The Night Shift" season 3 airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m. on NBC.
