'The Night Shift' season 3 spoilers: The nurses are on strike at a time when the hospital needs them the most in episode 9

(The Night Shift / Facebook)"The Night Shift" season 3 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.

The nurses are on strike when the hospital needs them the most in the upcoming episode 9, titled "Unexpected," of the third season of the American medical drama "The Night Shift."

A bomb explodes outside the San Antonio Memorial Hospital. The night shift doctors TC (Eoin Macken), Topher (Ken Leung), and Drew (Brendan Fehr) are left with no other choice but to choose whether to stay and tend to the injured people or evacuate everyone from the building and move to nearby hospitals.

As the hospital goes into a state of panic, it dawns on TC that the person behind the bombing could be someone he knows. The team has their hands full in treating all the wounded victims. However, things could get worse since they lack manpower when the nurses go on strike at a time when they are badly needed. In the midst of the stressful night, Shannon (Tanaya Beatty) and Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) find the opportunity to confront each other about a personal matter.

As season 3 nears its conclusion, starting with episode 9, it is expected that more dangers and revelations are going to unfold.

The promo trailer for "Unexpected" shows TC during the explosion, which reminds him of the war when he served as a medic in Afghanistan. This may give him an idea on who is responsible for the explosion.

Meanwhile, here is the rundown of the previous episode, titled "All In."

Topher's mother was rushed into the ER of the hospital where he is working at. The team tries to save her from a life-threatening condition. Meanwhile, the others have to deal with a gravely injured foster mom. When they were able to talk with the mother's younger foster daughter, they discovered something shocking.

The all-new episode of "Night Shift" season 3 airs on July 27, Wednesday, at 9 p.m. on NBC.
