'The Originals' season 3 spoilers: The Mikaelsons face their biggest threat ever in finale

(Facebook/The Originals)The Mikaelsons face their most dangerous threat in the finale episode of 'The Originals' season 3.

The Mikaelsons face the person who is capable of killing them in the finale episode, titled "The Bloody Crown," of the third season of the supernatural drama "The Originals."

After months of evading deadly threats and attacks, the Mikaelson siblings will finally face the only person who could put an end to them. The stakes are higher than ever and the compound is overrun by an army of Klaus' oldest sword enemies. Klaus will be on trial for all the wickedness he did for the past centuries. Marcel, on the other hand, ends up losing control after he was betrayed by the ones who were close to him. He will be shocked to see the surprising arrival of a person from his past. Elijah, Freya, and Kol work together to save and protect their family. Plus, Hayley and Vincent will pay a visit to the town.

The promo trailer for "The Bloody Crown" shows Marcel declaring to the Mikaelsons that Elijah is as good as dead. Freya, on the other hand, fears that none of them will make it through the day especially that majority of them are bitten by someone deadly. While Klaus is on trial, Rebekah speaks on his brother's behalf.

Actor Joseph Morgan shared the strained relationship between his character Klaus and his son Marcel (Charles Michael Davis.)

"For me, what sets [Marcel] apart [as a villain] is all of Klaus' issues with Mikael, he sees echoed in Marcel," Joseph Morgan told Entertainment Weekly. "And we saw that Marcel has these issues with his own father. His father in fact tried to kill him as my father tried to kill me, so there's a lot of feeling like maybe if Klaus can't fix himself, he can fix Marcel, he can fix what's happened to Marcel, and so in doing so, he'll find some peace in what's happened to him."

"The Originals" season 3 finale will air on Friday, May 20, at 9 p.m. on The CW.
