Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will soon encounter a renegade werewolf who may or may not help with her mission to save the Mikaelsons in the upcoming season of "The Originals."

Last season, everything went wrong for the Original family. Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) got his revenge for Davina's (Danielle Campbell) death by putting Klaus (Joseph Morgan) on trial and eliminating his siblings. Rebekah (Claire Holt), Freya (Riley Voelkel), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) were almost killed if not for the witch's quick thinking. Through a powerful spell, Freya tethered their lives to Klaus, who was sentenced to sleep for eternity. Hayley must keep their bodies safe until she can find a cure. It was a huge responsibility for the werewolf who previously did not want to become part of the Mikaelsons.

Executive producer Michael Narducci previously spoke about Tonkin's character with Entertainment Weekly.

"My feeling is, the story that we told in season 3 was really Hayley becoming definitively one of the Mikaelsons. Hope is absolutely a Mikaelson, and Hope's mother is a Mikaelson, not maybe in name. She's not an Original vampire. But she is a part of this family. By the definition of what a family is, Hayley is a part of this family," he said.

The last time viewers saw Hayley, she was leading the caravan containing the Mikaelsons. They all had to leave New Orleans. Once Marcel discovers his victims are still alive, he will make sure to hunt them down. Hayley's job is the toughest of all. The Originals' lives and safety rests on her shoulders.

In her difficult journey, she may come in contact with a female werewolf who is as alone as she. Deadline reports that the series has tapped Christina Moses to play Keelin, "a smart, strong resourceful ER doctor" who is the last surviving werewolf in her line.

Because of what happened to her family, Keelin has shunned contact with anyone. She lives in constant fear that the people who killed her loved ones will find her. She does not know that she is heading into a collision course with the Originals. Will she and Hayley, both alone and scared, find an ally in each other?

"The Originals" season 4 is expected to return midseason next year.
