The CW's The Vampire Diaries Season 6 premiere is airing this fall, and things will definitely get a little more interesting with a new villain.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, showrunner Julie Plec revealed the existence of a new "big bad," describing the new villain to be "psychotic."

"There is a villain-esque person in this season that I'm particularly excited about because it does break the mold a little bit of our villains, which seem to be often very redeemable in their own way," Julie Plec said, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Unlike previous villains of the show, who seem to have had redeemable qualities in them, Season 6's villain is expected to be rotten to the core, and this could make the lives of the characters a little more complex than usual.

"And we get to explore the deep, dark minds of a psychopathic personality, so I'm very excited about that," added Plec, suggesting the mental state of the said villain.

In another report, it is suggested that there will be new romances explored in the next season.

Elena and Stefan might rekindle their relationship, as they are seen holding hands in the new season's promo poster. Stefan almost had an affair with Caroline—who's expected to die this season—but ended up having a platonically-interesting cuddle fest with her instead.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 premiere will air on Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on The CW Network.
