'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers, cast news: Allison Scagliotti joins as Georgie

(Facebook/thevampirediaries)"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premieres on Oct. 21, Friday, at 8 p.m. on The CW.

A new face is joining the eighth season of "The Vampire Diaries." Allison Scagliotti, who currently stars on Freeform's "Stitchers," will be playing a character named Georgie.

Georgie is described as a character with ties to the occult who "channels her existential anxieties into a new field of study that will force her to confront her deepest fears," according to TVLine. She also has some skeletons in the closet, which means she's been through a dark past.

Some people may remember Scagliotti from Nickelodeon's "Drake and Josh." The actress played the role of Mindy Crenshaw, who was Josh's enemy-turned-girlfriend.

Apart from Scagliotti, Kristen Gutoskie from "Containment," another Julie Plec show, will be joining the eighth season of "The Vampire Diaries." Gutoskie will be bringing to life a character named Seline, who is a nanny struggling to find a place in this messed-up world.

As for the creature that was unleashed in the previous season, its identity is still being shrouded in mystery. Most of the upcoming season's plot details are unknown, but it is expected that more will be revealed as the premiere date draws near. "The Vampire Diaries" cast and crew have already begun work on the eighth season, so it won't be long until more teasers are released.

It was previously reported that the creature in the vault could be played by none other than Nina Dobrev. Even though the actress left the show in season 6, there are those who believe that she may come back to play Sybil, the new villain who can control other people. Sybil will apparently have the power to take the form of another human being, which will give sense to Dobrev returning — even if it's not definitively as Elena Gilbert. It is widely believed that Sybil will use Elena's form to influence Damon (Ian Somerhalder), who was forced to say goodbye to the love of his life as she descended into an eternal slumber.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on Oct. 21, Friday, on The CW.
