Season 5 of AMC's "The Walking Dead" is set to air in February and enthusiasts of the comic books as well as the TV series can't wait to see what Scott Gimple, writer and producer of the zombie series, has in store for viewers.

The apocalyptic series will finally have a new gay character on the show, according to TVGuide. Robert Kirkman, executive producer of the show, revealed that a major gay character will make an appearance in season 5, who is also part of the original comic book series. Reportedly, actor Ross Marquand will be playing the role of the gay male character. While there are no official reports or announcements regarding which character of the comic books he plays, speculations are indicating that he may be Aaron, a gay resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone.

In other news of "The Walking Dead", Josh McDermitt, who plays Eugene Porter, spoke about what fans can expect in the upcoming episodes. In an interview with The Huffington Post, McDermitt says that the cast will pick up with the aftermath of Beth's death and viewers will see all the characters dealing with her death. He said, "And I think, you know, the second half of the season is gonna change a bit. We've seen the characters that are in a place they've never been before, and it's just gonna get a little darker and a little crazier, and to quote Scott Gimple, 'It's just gonna get weird'".

He also agreed that fans should expect moments that "make you cry", but these scenes do not necessarily mean a character's death. Another major spoiler revealed by Josh is that Morgan showed up at the church when the greenery around it had grown, which means several months had passed. That means Morgan will not be joining the group, as was previously believed.

"The Walking Dead" season 5 premiers on Feb. 8, 2015 on AMC.
