"The Walking Dead" will resume season 6 on Feb. 14, and everything points to the show giving fans one bloody Valentine that they will remember for years to come.

Fans can always count on "The Walking Dead" to come back from a break with an intense new episode and episode 9 is no exception, as it promises to be the biggest episode that the show has done. At least, that's what showrunner Scott Gimple told Vanity Fair. It's not hard to believe Gimple's claim, especially when "The Walking Dead's" creator Robert Kirkman also hints at the same thing.

It's not just the bloody Valentine premiere that fans have to brace for though. According to showrunner Greg Nicotero, the second half of the season will be "heartbreaking" and "relentless." Aside from that description, Nicotero also teased of a major death this season. The Comicbook site reported that in his interview with Empire magazine, Nicotero pointed out that those who have read the comic book know that "we're climbing towards a major death."

The spoiler strongly implies that the show will remain true to its comic book roots, which means that the emotional well-being of millions of fans will be tested once more as Glenn (Steven Yeun) is set to meet a brutal end at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Lucille, his barb-wire wrapped bat.

Glenn is not the only character that will be facing a violent end this season. If the series will follow the comics, fans will soon be saying goodbye to Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) and her son, Sam (Major Dodson).

In the comics, much like in the show's midseason finale, Rick's group attempts to slip through the walker horde while camouflaged with zombie guts. But Jessie's son will freak out and call for his mother, alerting the walkers to their presence and cause them to attack. As Jessie refuses to let go of Carl (Chandler Riggs), Rick hacks off her hand to save his son.

The trailer for episode 9 strongly hinted at this coming to pass, which also means that it's likely that Carl will end up losing an eye and becoming disfigured. In the comics, as Rick and Carl run from the horde, Douglas Monroe accidentally shoots the young survivor in the face, destroying his eye. But as Movie Pilot pointed out, the show might change things a bit and have Ron (Austin Abrams) be the one to shoot Carl, maybe as revenge against Rick after letting his mother die.

Fans still have some time to get used to the idea that they'll be celebrating a bloody Valentine's Day as there's more than a month left before "The Walking Dead" midseason premiere returns to AMC on Feb. 14.
