'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers: Who did Negan kill? New season to start very dark

(Facebook / The Walking Dead)Season 7 of "The Walking Dead" is going to be very dark.

Hit zombie thriller drama "The Walking Dead" just recently capped its sixth season. A lot were shocked with the finale episode, but executive producer and showrunner Scott Gimple defends the cliff-hanger. Here is a roundup of details that is known so far for the next season.

According to TV Line, Gimple revealed that season 7 is going start "very, very, very dark." However, he clarified that the upcoming season will not be soaked in pure darkness. The opening sequence of the next season, he teased, will "be pushing some boundaries" when it comes to blood.

He revealed further that the first few episodes of season 7 will show the world opening up even more. He added, "We're going to have a wide variety of locales and a wide variety of tone... There's probably going to be the biggest variety of stories we've had yet."

Gimple also shared that the theme of the upcoming season is about the question: "How do you begin again?" The main characters will begin to wonder if the world they have lived in is not what they thought it was. The sudden question of the world's existence will lead them to question their existence, to choose to move on with their lives, and "who they want to be."

It is also reported that season 7 will feature more stories from Negan's point of view. Viewers and fans should not also expect a big reveal on Negan's character as there will be no behind-the-mask reveal — what you see on Negan is what you get. Fortunately, fans will absolutely see Heath next season.

Meanwhile, Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) also revealed in an interview with Variety that the new season will open in a non-conventional way. He said, "This is a brutally damaging, psychological and emotional battering to begin Season 7, which is a huge writing task." He admitted that he is a bit scared of playing his role, which is a positive challenge for him and for the rest of the cast so they won't repeat what they have done before.

"The Walking Dead's" season 7 premiere date is yet to be revealed.
