'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers, return date: Back half will see more Carol; Rick, Daryl ready to fight

(Facebook/TheWalkingDeadAMC)"The Walking Dead" season 7 will return on Feb. 12.

"The Walking Dead" recently aired its midseason finale, which means fans will have to wait a while before they can catch the Alexandrian survivors again. The second half of season 7 will return on Feb. 12 with more Carol, a pumped-up Daryl, and a lot of hindrances.

The midseason finale, titled "Hearts Still Beating," saw two more Alexandrians die at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Ann Mahoney's Olivia and Austin Nichols' Spencer were killed off, and their deaths jump-started Rick's vengeful side. After spending the first half of the season downtrodden and defeated, Rick has finally come to his senses and is prepared to fight Negan to the death.

But it won't all be smooth sailing, according to Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick in the series. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Lincoln revealed that there will be a lot of hurdles in the way. The remaining Alexandrians will now ally with Khary Payton's King Ezekiel and his Kingdom. And while Carol has already met the ruler, Rick has yet to grace him with his presence.

"It's a very dynamic season," Lincoln previews. "It's very much about trying to forge relationships and getting other communities in order. But there is the small matter of we need some guns."

As for Daryl, the midseason finale saw him finally escaping from the clutches of the Saviors in the Sanctuary. His escape was much-awaited, and now that he's free, fans are excited to see how he will exact his revenge on Negan.

"He's ready to kick some a**. He's in hate mode right now. He's ready to throw down," Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, told Variety.

Meanwhile, Carol has been noticeably absent for most of the first half of season 7, but that will all change come February. Carol has admittedly been through a lot and is "taking a little time for herself" now that things have slowed down for her. But the second half of the season will see more of her, actress Melissa McBride told Vanity Fair.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 returns on Feb. 12 on AMC.
