After the conclusion of the fifth season of the Emmy-winning HBO series "Game of Thrones," many fans have redirected their attention towards George R. R. Martin and his unfinished book.

Martin, the author of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, has been working on the next sixth and seventh installments of the series titled "Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring," respectively.

The popular series, "Game of Thrones," is based on Martin's books.

Martin has stated that he intends to finish the sixth book before season six of "Game of Thrones" airs.

Martin shared, "I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm down a lot more interviews – anything I can do to get this done."

Martin has indeed made sacrifices in order to finish the "The Winds of Winter." Martin was also unable to write scripts for the past two seasons of "Game of Thrones." He shared, "I scripted one episode every season. So the last two seasons, I have not done that, simply because I am too busy with the book."

Despite his busy schedule, Martin made an appearance during the "New York Jets'" training camp. Martin chatted with players, fans, and Jets officials regarding the fate of his characters.

In an interview with D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Martin admitted that the high expectation for his future books has been "a little overwhelming and challenging."

It seems that both television and book fans alike will have to wait together to see what is in store for the characters of "Game of Thrones."

Season six of the HBO series "Game of Thrones" is reportedly already in production. While "The Winds of Winter" has yet to be officially released, the sixth season of "Game of Thrones" is expected to air in spring of 2016.
