"A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series author George R.R. Martin has confirmed attendance at the upcoming 74th World Science Convention. Many are expecting the author to announce the release of the sixth installment of the series, "The Winds of Winter," during the event.

On his June 29 entry of his live journal, Martin wrote, "I will be there, along with hundreds of other writers, artists and editors, and thousands of fans." The author announced that he will participate in four book signing activities and added, "Of course, I'll be doing other stuff in Kansas City as well. A couple of panels, a reading, maybe some other stuff."

The release of "The Winds of Winter" has long been anticipated and the author has promised his readers that he will devote more time in completing the book, which has been in the making for years. He has been generously sharing excerpts from his book, on his various social media sites to live reading a whole chapter in different guesting appearances.

As such, he is expected to share another chapter while attending the 74th World Convention that will happen on Aug. 17–21.

His "A Song of Ice and Fire" series has become the source of the successful HBO series titled "Game of Thrones. On Martin's most recent entry, he shared the news about the 23 Emmy nominations received by the TV show.

The show went on to air the full of season of its sixth season even without a novel to base from. Fans were happy with the story shown in season 6 and are now more excited and intrigued to know how much of the show's plot is similar to what the author has in mind.

With the total chapter shared on different platforms, readers are speculating that "The Winds of Winter" could be released before the year ends.
