'Thor: Ragnarok' news: Mark Ruffalo's Hulk may make an appearance; Tom Hiddleston's Loki reportedly confirmed

Hulk has not found much grounding in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. People who expected him to return in "Captain America: Civil War" were surely disappointed when actor Mark Ruffalo said he has not heard from the production team. But the character just might be making his third appearance when the Norse god returns to the big screen.

After both of Joss Whedon's Avengers films - "The Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" - Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner a.k.a. Hulk had been exempted from other Marvel film. His absence will surely be noted in "Captain America: Civil War," especially as it is touted to be the biggest gathering of Marvel superheroes in the big screen. But he will not be out of the big screen for long as recent rumours say that Ruffalo is reprising his role in "Thor: Ragnarok."

JoBlo exclusively reports, following the New York Comic-Con aftermath of news, that Hulk and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will pair up to stop what can be considered the Norse Apocalypse. The two will be battling evils off a distant planet that is neither Asgard nor Earth. Just where exactly, it has not been revealed. But the same website surmises that this can be the beginnings of a Planet Hulk story arc, which has been in the works for years.

The "green monster" and the Thunder god's pairing does make sense for some MCU fans. The two have had a lot of fun banters in the past. But story-wise, it also makes sense not just for the Planet Hulk angle, but also for what is rumoured to be the movie's plot. Of all the existing Avengers, Hulk can definitely withstand the harsh interspace travel - and he may not even need a space suit!

JoBlo also mentions that Tom Hiddleston is also confirmed to be reprise the role of Loki. Previously, the English actor admitted that he is not sure if his popular villainous character will be back in the third film about the Asgardian god of thunder. So this tidbit, as well as Hulk's involvement, still has to be taken with some reservations.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is tentatively set for Nov. 3, 2017.
