Viewers of the HBO mystery crime drama, "True Detective," were surprised with last episode's big reveal involving Paul Woodrugh. Now the actor who plays Woodrugh, talks about where this new twist will take his character.

"True Detective" season two just aired its third episode and a lot has already happened especially to Taylor Kitsch's Paul Woodrugh. In episode two, Paul breaks up with his girlfriend after they get into argument about her suspicions of him cheating. He then stormed off home where he was seen gazing longingly at a gay prostitute. And in last Sunday's episode, Paul encounters a former friend from the War, who hints that they may have been lovers before. This revelation caught him off-guard, leading him to lash out and throw his old friend to the ground.

Sitting down with the Daily Beast, Kitsch explains why Paul might have had that violent reaction to his ex-military buddy, "I think when you're living with something so long, and it runs that deep where it feels that's what's within himself, then it really would be the end of him. There is no real answer to what would happen if [it's revealed], and I think that shame is so strong within himself that if he does answer to it, then it's, 'OK, now what? What the fuck am I going to do now?'"

He also hints that bigger things are about to happen to Paul throughout the season especially since episodes four and five are about to reveal the repercussions of him coming out of his deep-seated closet. He even says that the next two episodes are probably the "best work in [his] career."

Season two of "True Detective," which also stars other big-named actors such as Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Vince Vaughn, returns for episode four on Sunday, July 12.
