"True Detective" made such an impact in season one that fans are raring to know what's next for the thriller and crime mystery show. There are enough spoilers on the Internet that can quench any fan's thirst for information.

MoviePilot reports that the plot follows the death of a corrupt city manager, Ben Casper, whose chest is etched with satanic symbols and genitals mutilated. The manager is found on a highway in California, a state where much of the show takes place in. Upon further investigation by three police officers, it is revealed that the corrupt manager is actually tied to an S & M club which has further ties to occult behavior. The manager was also a partner of Vince Vaughn's character, tying him to the investigation.

His death also comes at a crucial juncture as negotiation deals are getting finalized for a high-speed railway system which will solve the state's notorious gridlock problem. The conspiracy goes that, in order to keep car sales figures up, automobile companies such as General Motors suppressed any public transportation system in California. The web of conspiracy increases as investigations take place.

The beauty of the show lies in its characters and their myriad layers of complications. Colin Farrell plays detective Ray Velcoro, a corrupt cop with ties to the mob while Taylor Kitsch is a war veteran suffering from PTSD and in the midst of a sexual assault scandal he may not have committed. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a businessman attempting to legitimize his business while Rachel McAdams is an uncompromising sheriff with a possible gambling and alcohol addiction.

A release date is yet to be finalized by HBO.
