'Vikings' season 4 episode 2 spoilers: What is Floki's punishment?; Bjorn heads to the wilderness to prove his worth

"Vikings" fans were not disappointed with the premiere episode of season 4. In true "Vikings" fashion, episode one of the popular History channel's latest season set the stage for what was to come while also reminding fans of the show's bloody past.

Treason was the underlying theme of the premiere episode, "A Good Treason," as Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) ordered Floki's (Gustaf Skarsgard) arrest for the murder of Athelstan (George Blagden) while Rollo (Clive Standen) betrayed his people by killing all that remained of his Viking brethren in Paris.

Now a still seriously weak Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) has to deal with the fallout of those actions in episode 2. A synopsis for the episode, "Kill the Queen," reveals that "Ragnar and Floki are still at odds" while Rollo will take steps to get into his wife's good graces. Bjorn will head to the wilderness and put his survival skills to the test and King Ecbert (Linus Roache) will give his son Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) the task of rescuing Queen Kwenthrith (Amy Bailey).

There seems to be a lot going on in the show's second episode, and that much was shown in the corresponding trailer, which begins with Ragnar passing judgment on Floki for Athelstan's murder. He tells his erstwhile friend that he made him suffer so he's returning the favour, ominously adding that Floki's punishment will be never ending. There are hints of Floki being drowned afterwards.

The clip also shows a castle being attacked and one of the soldiers shouting at another to "kill the Queen." In court, King Ecbert says this "abuse on their last treaty will not be tolerated." Meanwhile, in another court, Rollo tells the King of France to build more ships. The trailer ends with a woman calling for Athelstan as a man looking like him is revealed.

While King Ragnar is facing a lot of challenges, so too are his son and brother. In a Variety interview, "Vikings" creator Michael Hirst revealed that Bjorn and Rollo will be facing the monumental challenge of discovering who they really are.

Ragnar was not happy with Bjorn's decision to arrest Floki, as he's now forced to deal with his errant friend. This will prompt his son to go to the wilderness to prove to his father that he deserves to be Ragnar's heir.

Rollo is also in a similar situation. He has always been in his brother's shadow and his desire to be his own man has led him to betray his brother, cast his lot with the French king and remain in a society he doesn't understand. But he is trying to change and adapt. A clip shows the huge Viking getting a makeover of sorts, probably to impress his new wife.

Fans can catch a new episode of "Vikings" season 4 on Feb. 25.
