History's "Vikings" season 4 is currently on a hiatus and fans are anxiously waiting to see what happens next when the historical drama series returns.

The network has not announced an exact date for the return of the series, but rumor has it that season 4 will resume in July. According to Den of Geek's speculations, "Vikings" will return with the season's episode 11 on the first Thursday following the conclusion of "Game of Thrones" season 6, which will likely be in July.

Of course, this is merely a speculation and a July return may not happen at all so readers will need to take this piece of information with a grain of salt.

When the show returns, it is said to focus on Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and his children, who have grown up to become skilled warriors.

The boys are already men and any one of them can replace their father as king. Ragnar has even challenged them to show if they're worthy to take over the throne. It's easy to speculate that Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), his first son with Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), will be the heir to the throne, but there are now rumors suggesting that his youngest son, Ivar the Boneless (James Quinn Markey), will take Ragnar's place.

Meanwhile, the fate of Lagertha is also one of the storylines that a lot of fans are looking forward to knowing. In the first half of season 4, it's easy to assume that she is already dead since Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) seemingly killed her. There was a time jump, but it appears that Lagertha wasn't spotted or mentioned elsewhere in the show, which led many to believe she's dead. However, showrunner Michael Hirst has confirmed that Lagertha will make an epic comeback.

In an interview with TVGuide, Hirst said that he can't afford to kill off Lagertha at the moment because she is such an important character. "She is the soul of the show and I need her." The character's return would surely be a surprise for Aslaug.
