From Chicago, "Watch Dogs 2" has moved to San Francisco Bay Area where players take control of Marcus Holloway. The game is set in a fictional present time (2016) where an advanced operating system known as ctoOS 2.0 is the main target of the game. ctOS 2.0 works on networking city infrastructure and is meant to create a safer place. Marcus will team up with a notorious group of hackers called DedSec to expose the dangers posed by the system, which corrupt corporations use.

Marcus has a first-hand experience on the effect of the system as he is a victim of a crime prediction algorithm.

The new game boasts of a wide map as it covers the cultured streets Franciso and the lush lawns of Silicon Valley as well. All the places are filled with stories waiting to be discovered and rewards that will be used as the game progresses.

Ubisoft has increased the flexibility of hacking styles to be used by players, and all characters, vehicles, electronics, and objects were created to be susceptible to hacking. Players can customize their character that will be visible to other players online as well.

Even without an Internet connection, "Watch Dogs 2" was created as a connected experience gameplay. Senior producer Dominic Guay and creative director Jonathan Morin have answered some of the fans' questions. Guay shared that Marcus can choose from a wide variety of clothing from suit and tie to the most casual pieces of clothes.

He also said that Marcus can attack any civilian he encounters and those civilians can attract those around him including cops to intervene. This makes the game more interactive and realistic.
