'Wayward Pines' season 2 still not greenlighted by Fox; get ready for bingewatching again with release of season 1 DVD

Will there or will there be no "Wayward Pines" season two? It's still a question on many a fans' minds. After an initial confirmation that "Cycle," the last episode in season one, is the last episode of the entire show, Fox and the show's executive producers now seem to be seriously considering giving another season a shot. But what of those who still have not had time to pick-up the show and are still unaware why it should be renewed? A DVD of all the episodes is out and reviews say it's perfect for binge-watching.
Free Kittens Movie Guide has reviewed the "Wayward Pines" season one DVD, which came out Last Oct. 13. The writer admitted to skipping the whole show when it first came out, thinking it's just a "Twin Peaks" copycat based on the promotional ads. But watching the entire 10 episodes with the DVD, he soon found out he was wrong. He went as far as to say that the book-based sci-fi thriller may be better than the David Lynch-directed serial psychological drama in that the latter waned as the series progressed, while the former got better.
In a nutshell, the review describes the show as "an initially ambiguous story that rewards patient viewers with a revelation that is truly mind-blowing." It was kind enough to not go into details about the 'mind-blowing revelation.' The show, after all, had its best moments in its latter half. The review even says it: "[the plot is]...one of the greatest revelations presented in a TV show since the old days of 'The Twilight Zone.'"
Episode five s really where it all happens. That may be a good or bad thing for the show, given that there are still five more episodes left to it. The last five are still full of suspense, but maybe not half as much as the midway episode. But the review does say that the ending can "either thrill or infuriate" viewers depending on expectations. He adds, "Either way, the resolution is supremely discussion-worthy."
It is, which is why fans still cannot stop talking about it, even months after it wrapped up. So for those who want a good new series to binge-watch on or those who have already seen the series and wants to relive it while waiting for news on a season two, the "Wayward Pines" DVD is a worthy investment. Priced at $22, it includes two bonus features: behind-the-scenes clips and a story featurette.
