Fox television channel's drama "Wayward Pines" recently ended season 2 with intriguing scenes, as they sent humanity into a deep slumber in their sleeping pods. Everyone is excited to know about the fate of these humans. But will Fox renew "Wayward Pines" for another season? Chief Executive Officer of Fox Television Group Dana Walden seems to think so.

The CEO recently told the media at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that she "definitely thinks there could be a season 3." She stated that "Wayward Pines" is still the "number one scripted show of the summer."

According to Walden, the show's producers have already shared their ideas. Executive Producer M. Night Shyamalan and "Wayward Pines" author Blake Crouch already shared their thoughts with the CEO. The CEO admitted that the network's top executives are still deciding whether or not they will pursue another season for the show.

As of the moment, the network is still waiting for season 2 reviews to roll in. The reviews might ultimately decide the fate of season 3.

Fans are crossing their fingers for another season, as the follow-up is set to contain material that isn't found in the books. Parent Herald reports that Crouch will be sharing new material for season 3, which goes beyond the scope of the "Wayward Pines" trilogy.

Walden did confirm at TCA that the season 3 will be compelling.

Reports say that Shyamalan wants a season 3. The cliffhanging ending of the previous season simply won't do. Shyamalan wants to have a third season so they can properly end the series with it.

Fox Network has yet to decide on the show's future. Hopefully, they will make an announcement soon.
