'Wonder Woman' movie update, spoilers: New photos see Gal Gadot being directed by Patty Jenkins

(Facebook/wonderwomanfilm)"Wonder Woma" will premiere on June 2, 2017.

The Amazonian hero known as Wonder Woman graced the silver screen in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Now, fans of the female warrior will get to see her headline her own movie, and based on new photos from "Wonder Woman," it looks like the film is all set.

Entertainment Weekly exclusively obtained the new photos. The first one shows Gal Gadot in costume, holding a shield in her left hand and drawing some sort of sword using her right. The second photo sees the armored beauty looking directly at the camera as she strikes a powerful pose. The third photo has her sitting in the middle of what looks to be a forest — or the Amazon — with Chris Pine's character, Steve Trevor, right next to her. Finally, the last shot sees Gadot being directed by Patty Jenkins.

Gadot has pointed out the significance of having a female direct the upcoming film. "It's a story about a girl becoming a woman. I think only a woman, who has been a girl, can be able to tell the story in the right way," she told EW in an interview.

Making the film is definitely proving to be a lot of pressure, especially considering that young girls look up to the iconic character. Moreover, a film featuring the Amazonian warrior at center stage has not been made in decades.

Fans will get to see the cast of "Wonder Woman" at the San Diego Comic-Con. Warner Bros. confirmed its participation and will be joining the likes of "Suicide Squad" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Jenkins will also be in attendance. The panel will be held at Hall H on July 23, Saturday.

It was also revealed that "Wonder Woman" had apparently tapped two screenwriters, Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns. It was previously thought that the film had been written by Jason Fuchs, but along with the list of Comic-Con attendees came this little surprise.

"Wonder Woman" will premiere on June 2, 2017.
