The "X-Men" movie franchise is one of the longest and most lucrative superhero franchises to date. The first "X-Men" movie debuted in 2000 and featured stars like Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, and James Marsden.

The sixth movie in the franchise, "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be released summer of 2016. The upcoming movie will see the rise of Apocalypse, the first ever mutant in the "X-Men" universe. Apocalypse, immortal and powerful, has become disillusioned after he sees what has become of the world. He recruits his own team of mutants set to create chaos. Raven and Professor X assemble their own team of "X-Men" to stop Apocalypse from wiping out the whole of mankind.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is being treated as the culmination of the first phase of the franchise. The movie will try to wrap up the storylines of the first-generation X-Men cast members. Bryan Singer, director, revealed that he is currently in post-production and that the final cut is longer than usual.

"I think it's gonna be a longer 'X-Men' movie. The 'X-Men' movies, I usually keep under two hours, but this one I may actually let be a longer movie because it's sort of a wrap-up of six movies There's even an homage at the end," Singer said.

Singer also revealed that a movie trailer that is scheduled to premiere by Feb. 2016 will give fans of the franchise a sneak peak into one of the tribute scenes.

In a recent interview at San Pedro International Film Festival, Singer also praised the acting skills of Michael Fassbender, who plays the younger version of Magneto. Singer revealed that Fassbender portrayed a specific scene so beautifully and committed it completely. The actor also did something that made Singer cry.

"It was so beautiful, I've never seen an actor do this for me and [Fassbender] just took the scene to a whole other level." While Singer didn't reveal details of that specific scene, viewers may be able to see it when the film premieres.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will be released to theaters in May 27, 2016.
