Nexus 6P vs Galaxy S6 Active: Nexus 6P outdoes its rival with its design

With the Nexus 6P being described by many as the best Android phone of the year, it's time to see how other devices like the Galaxy S6 Active with its rugged exterior compare to it.

Design

The S6 Active has a largely plastic build, but it is extremely rugged as its sides have been reinforced with hard plastic and rubber which makes the device waterproof. It has an IP68 certification and can remain under 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes and it also has a MIL-STD-810G certification, which means it is resistant to heat, radiation, and salt. It comes in two camouflaged colors-- blue and white-- but there is also a plain gray version. As for the Nexus 6P it has a premium metal build which is usually seen in high end phones but it rear has a glass strip covering the camera. The device is available in three colors aluminum, frost and graphite and it has fingerprint scanner on its rear which is not present on its competitor.

Display

The Nexus 6P is a bigger device and so it has a 5.7 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 518 pixels per inch as for its competitor it has a 5.1 inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 576 pixels per inch.

Specs

There is a faster Exynos 7420 chipset on the Galaxy S6 Active and it is coupled with an octa-core processor comprised of four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760 GPU. As for the Nexus 6P, it has a slower Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four cores clocked at 1.55 GHz and four clocked at 2.0 GHz along with an Adreno 430 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory slot on either device so external storage cannot be tacked on, as for RAM each has 3 GB onboard.

Price

The Google Nexus 6P costs $500 unlocked, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active costs $199 with a two year contract.
