'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date, rumors: Multiplayer gameplay mode to come with sequel?

(Facebook/Red Dead Redemption)There is no truth to the rumors claiming that Red Dead Redemption canceled its E3 participation because of the Orlando mass shooting on June 12.

As fans await for the official announcement of "Red Dead Redemption 2," rumors are spreading over the purported multiplayer mode that will come with the highly-anticipated sequel.

According to The Christian Times, recent reports suggest that a multiplayer mode is one of the features in RDR2. If the speculations are true, players will finally be able to enjoy fighting against and with other gamers. However, it is unclear if the mode will be playable for numerous maps within the title or if it will be available for select maps.

Meanwhile, fans are still wondering why Take Two did not unveil "Red Dead Redemption 2" during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The event should have been the best place to release footage and make big announcements, but unfortunately, there was nothing given to the faithful fans who waited for updates.

According to Movie News Guide, sources revealed that the reason why RDR2 wasn't announced was due to the recent Orlando, Florida shooting that took many lives and made headlines around the globe.

The insiders further revealed that the trailer for the much-anticipated title features violent footage that shows the massacre of numerous people in a saloon. The sensitivity of the Orlando shooting and the similarity of the game's teaser to the tragedy may have caused production to decide on delaying the announcement for now.

However, the vice president of Playstation's Third Party Relations and Developer Technology Group, Adam Boyes, has clarified that "Red Dead Redemption 2" was just not included in the itinerary for E3 2016, meaning the Orlando shooting is in no way related to the game's unveiling.

Numerous reports are still emerging on the possibilities for RDR2. Some predict that Irish and Seth will be the main characters who will embark on a journey, searching for hidden treasure. It is unclear if there will be other characters but rumor has it that a third and yet-to-be-announced character will be introduced in the gang mode.

Finally, there's the report that the second installment of the franchise will be titled "Red Dead Redemption: Legends of the West." This information has yet to be confirmed, just like most of the news that emerged over the past months regarding the game.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to launch sometime in 2017.
