There is still little information available regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update, and the South Korean OEM has never announced these kind of updates ahead; thus, there is a chance the Kitkat update is already rolling out unannounced for Galaxy devices in various locales.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 and S4 smartphones are two of the top selling Android phones, and though they are already running an earlier version of Android KitKat, they are also due for an update.

While Samsung is silent on details about the upcoming roll-out, a document leaked that Android 4.4.3 had already been tested by Samsung.

However, the newer Android 4.4.4 is beginning to roll out as well, hence, it is likely that Samsung will distribute the 4.4.3 update to Galaxy S5 and S4 in not too long, with the minor update to Android 4.4.4 following soon thereafter.

In June, Google pushed two brand new Kitkat versions – the 4.4.3 and Android 4.4.4 update.

The 4.4.3 update has been rumored to be launched since March. Before the Android 4.4.4 update came out, there were already rumors of the version update for Samsung Galaxy S5, S4 LTE-A, HTC One M7 and HTC One M8.

Android 4.4.4 may not bring any major updates compared to 4.4.3, but it is also scarcely distributed. Except for the Nexus devices, it not many devices have received it as of yet.

For those who already have Android 4.4.3, getting the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update will provide an OpenSSL vulnerability security patch, which is the only major difference between the two.

For those who already have Android 4.4.2 KitKat, what they will get from running the Android 4.4.4 update are all the bug fixes of 4.4.3, plus the OpenSSL security patch.

Some companies, like Motorola and Sony, are skipping the 4.4.3 update, going directly for the Android 4.4.4 update.
