'Sons of Anarchy' spinoff release date: Charlie Hunnam to reprise Jax Teller role in a cameo?

(Facebook/Sons of Anarchy)Sons of Anarchy's spinoff series is titled Mayan MC.

It's been almost two years since "Sons of Anarchy" released its final season, but still the hype for a comeback hasn't died down. Fans still want to see the story continue, either as a prequel or a spinoff, despite the story coming to an end in 2014.

It has long been rumored that a series related to "Sons of Anarchy" will soon be released. Indeed, it has been confirmed that its creator, Kurt Sutter, is working on the project titled "Mayans MC," a series that will now focus on Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original's (SAMCRO) rival, the Mayans. With news about the development of a spinoff, fans continue to hope that Charlie Hunnam, who plays protagonist Jax Teller, will make an appearance.

Hunnam's Jax died at the end of the season and his story has been established, but that didn't stop fans from formulating theories about his return. According to a report from Mobile n Apps, there is a possibility that Hunnam will reprise his role in any "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff planned, considering there are rumors going around that Jax's father John, will be given focus.

With that said, it is speculated that the 36-year-old actor will make a cameo appearance in the next "Sons of Anarchy-related" series. But Hunnam's recent interview with Entertainment Online may squish any rumors about him being part of a spinoff.

"I do believe it is happening," Hunnam said at the recent San Diego Comic Con, when asked to share his thoughts about the spinoff or prequel. "But I don't think I'm a part of it, because I wasn't born when that was happening."

He went on to explain what this prequel or spinoff might be. "I believe it's sort of like an origin of motorcycle culture in America," before confirming, "I'm really just making it up, because I don't know any facts."

Even without the "King Arthur" actor, fans are still pretty excited to see what "Mayans MC" has to bring to the table. A release date for which has yet to be announced.
