Samsung S7, S7 Edge news: Updated user manuals reveal Android Nougat interface
Shortly after it was confirmed that Android Nougat's latest version will be arriving for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the features and functions of the update were teased through the modified user manuals that surfaced online.
According to the Netherlands-based website and news source Galaxy Club, the revised user manual for the SM-G935F or Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is now available on PDF format and in English, Dutch and German. On the other hand, the updated manual for the SM-G930F or Samsung Galaxy S7 is only available in English so far, although the news source believes that it will also be available in other languages soon.
Galaxy Club also reported that, interestingly enough, the manual does not tackle the Secure Folder feature. This is a newly added function in 2016 and was first introduced through the defunct Galaxy Note 7. It acts like a typical file manager app that stores documents, videos, photos and all sorts of files but with an added high level of security. Files stashed in the secure folder can only be accessed through the user's authenticated fingerprint.
However, Galaxy Club is positive that the user manuals will be updated again to contain the Secure Folder function soon.
It can be recalled that on Dec. 30, Samsung ended the Galaxy Beta Program along with the message, "We would do our best to distribute the official version in January as soon as possible."
Now that the updated user manuals have surfaced, it is another good indication that Samsung is indeed on track with the promised release of the highly anticipated software update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Earlier in December, Samsung also announced that Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners will be getting updated directly to Android Nougat 7.1.1. However, there are other reports that say the version of Android Nougat that will be made available will differ in varying regions.
Last Dec. 15, a representative from Vodafone Australia confirmed that the land down under will not get the 7.1.1 Nougat version. In a community forum, the rep wrote: "I've checked in with the right people ... and they've confirmed the references to Samsung skipping [Android 7.0] to refer to other markets and not to Australia. We're definitely testing 7.0 for both devices."
