The crew of the USS Nathan James will team up with an MI6 agent in the upcoming season of "The Last Ship."

As per Deadline, a new character will enter the picture as Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) and the rest of the team continue with their next mission in the new installment. Jonathan Howard has been tapped by TNT to play the role of James Fletcher, a real life James Bond who works as an MI6 agent and a British Royal Navy commander. Fletcher is set to join the Americans on a specific mission vital to the continued survival of humanity on Earth.

According to the spoilers, the Brit will be working closely with Sasha Cooper (Bridget Regan). Tom Chandler's (Eric Dane) girlfriend has decided to stay in the ship even after he submitted his resignation papers. The captain wants to take some time off from work and reflect on what he wants to do next with his life. His father's death, as well as Tex's (John Pyper-Ferguson), lies heavily in his conscience. He will leave his position to Slattery, who will lead the crew in the next tasks given by the higher-ups.

Fletcher will be in charge of finding stolen items that are reportedly crucial to the survivors. It remains to be seen how many episodes he is going to be featured. As per spoilers, the MI6 man will play a vital role and it should come as no surprise, considering his impressive resumé. With him working with Sasha, will he become a wedge between her and Tom?

It has been previously teased that the couple will continue their love affair in season 4. Tom has not even said a proper goodbye to Sasha, hinting that there is more to expect in their relationship.

"The Last Ship" season 4 is expected to start airing in 2017.
