"Attack on Titan" season 2 is officially making its way to the United States and Canada, owing it to Funimation for acquiring the rights. And with the release settled, fans are now continuing to speculate about what's to come.

The new season is expected to continue the story of Eren Yeager and his comrades in the Survey Corps as they seek to take down the Titans that have infiltrated their city. Civilians are dying and destruction is everywhere. 

New Titans are expected to be introduced in the forthcoming season. According to reports, there will be one clever Titan, who will have the intelligence of a human being. This smart Titan also happens to be a shapeshifter, much like Eren. Another Titan is being described as beast-like and will be directly coming from within the walls of the city. As fans all know by now, it was revealed that the walls comprise of Titans. The reason and history behind it have not been explained, but it is expected that season 2 is going to shed some light on it.

There will also be a lot of bloodshed in the new season, but that already goes without saying, especially given the amount of lives that were lost during the first season alone. Hopefully, though, fans will get to see their favorite characters alive in the end. 

It has been said that Eren may get himself into some major danger, but it remains to be seen how. Mikasa and Armin will be there, though, to help him out. There has also been talk of the source of Eren's powers being explored further. It can be recalled that season 1 saw how Eren acquired his powers — his father injected him with some sort of serum that allowed him to shapeshift into a Titan. However, the serum's origins have not been revealed.

Fans are also expecting the Reiss family to reveal themselves in the upcoming season. The members of the Reiss family are the true rulers of the kingdom and viewers are looking forward to meeting them.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 will be released in Japan in April 2017. An official release date in the United States has yet to be announced.
