'Girl Meets World' season 4 news: Rowan Blanchard to write book in case show gets axed

Fans of "Girl Meets World" remain uncertain about the show's future since Disney Channel has yet to give the series a renewal order for season 4. The show is currently in its third season, but should the fourth installment not push through, star Rowan Blanchard, who plays Riley, has already set up a safety net.
According to reports, Blanchard is apparently mulling over the idea of publishing a book should Disney decide to cancel "Girl Meets World." The young actress was recently featured in the New York Times and an excerpt from the article reveals what Blanchard is considering.
"I found myself not being able to put something in my diary without thinking, 'Maybe if this is good enough, I'll publish it,'" she said.
On the other hand, there has been some talk of Disney cancelling the show because of rifts among the cast members. Additionally, with the characters growing up, it won't take long before more mature content should be tackled. And since Disney is a network that is aimed toward younger viewers, it does not seem likely that "Girl Meets World" will continue, judging by the path it's heading toward.
However, some believe that the show may survive on a different network, particularly Freeform. The channel is more geared toward young adult audiences, which means fans of the show can still tune in to Riley and Maya's (Sabrina Carpenter) lives if it decides to move.
As previously reported, even Blanchard is unsure about what the future holds for "Girl Meets World." She revealed that production had already wrapped in season 3 and there's no word yet on whether there's going to be a fourth season. However, since there are still episodes left to air through early 2017, fans can look forward to those in the meantime.
The upcoming episode of season 3, titled "Girl Meets Her Monster," will see Topanga (Danielle Fishel) upset with Riley when she chooses to binge-watch her favorite show over helping her mother at the bakery. A trailer has also been released and it sees Riley telling her parents that perhaps "it's time I didn't live under this roof anymore."
"Girl Meets World" season 3 airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. on Disney Channel.
