Carrie (Claire Danes) may be hesitating now but she will soon meet up with her old mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin) to talk about the possibility of returning to her old job in the CIA in the upcoming season of "Homeland."

As per recent reports, Saul is still determined to convince Carrie to come back to Langley where she belongs. The ex-agent will reportedly refuse the offer since she has made up her mind to make her own way as a civilian. Carrie will be working in a Muslim foundation in New York in season 6.

Patinkin said in an interview though that his character is equally resolute and will not take "no" for an answer.

"[Saul is] in a prayerful state that he will reconnect with his child and bring her back into a world where she is destined to be a profound giver and caretaker to humanity. That is her true gift. ... For me, this piece is this relationship. [Saul's connection with Carrie] is why he is bothering to live," the actor said, according to Variety.

The new installment of the Showtime series will see the United States in a pivotal moment in history after a new president has been elected. As per spoilers, Saul and Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) will play important roles with regards to the national security of the new leader. It has also been revealed that the country will be rocked by political unrest soon after the elections. The CIA will be busy trying to cope with the barrage of threats to the president's life.

Although she does not want to be involved, Carrie will find herself wanting to help. Saul has pegged her well when he said her patriotic side would not let her sit in a corner and watch her country fall. Carrie is expected to return to the CIA, where she will use her skills to make a difference. Saul will just have to wait a while until she has sorted out her feelings and determine what she really wants.
