'Homeland' season 6 spoilers: Saul has not given up on his golden girl

(Facebook/HomelandonShowtime)Saul wants Carrie back in "Homeland" season 6.

Saul (Mandy Patinkin) will make sure that his best operative will return to the CIA in the upcoming season of "Homeland." Will he be able to convince Carrie (Claire Danes) to change her mind and come back?

As per Variety, there is no way that Saul has given up on his golden girl. He knows what Carrie is capable of as an agent. For him, it would be a shame to see her skills be wasted on trivial matters. Carrie will be working for a Muslim foundation in New York in the new installment. She has no plans to return to Langley, considering what happened last season where Saul and the CIA labeled her a traitor and she spent most of the time hiding from their deadly pursuit.

Patinkin, however, revealed that his character sees Carrie as his redemption. He genuinely believes that the country needs someone like her at the helm. Although Saul has not expressed his concern for the agent that much, he actually considers her one of the most important people in his life.

Season 6 is expected to see if Saul will be able to persuade Carrie to return. The American people are on the verge of electing their new leader. Unrest is just around the corner. Will she answer the call of her nation?

"[Saul is] in a prayerful state that he will reconnect with his child and bring her back into a world where she is destined to be a profound giver and caretaker to humanity. That is her true gift. ... For me, this piece is this relationship. [Saul's connection with Carrie] is why he is bothering to live," the actor said, according to Variety.

Recent spoilers predict that Saul will not easily succeed in his undertaking. Danes has already said that Carrie has moved on. She no longer shares the same ideals as her mentor. Her experiences have taught her a lot and opened her eyes to her true mission in this world.

"Homeland" season 6 airs Jan. 15 on Showtime.
