Many fans have been gearing up for Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole's joint album, but it looks like they may have to grab a box of tissues as reports have it that the collaboration is nothing but impossible at this point.

It has been long rumored that Lamar and J. Cole's collaborative album has been experiencing delays due to their equally busy schedules. It was previously reported that Lamar had to oversee his new footwear lineup with Reebok and had to promote the collection by making personal appearances. Additionally, there was also some talk about the rapper experiencing some legal battles involving copyright infringement.

J. Cole, on the other hand, has to juggle numerous concerts, including one at the John Paul Jones Arena and one at the Washington State Fair. There was even some speculation that he may not be all too keen on making the album with Lamar as he is eyeing a joint effort with Drake instead.

Regardless of those rumors, there was still a glimmer of hope that fans may be treated to a collaborative album. However, it would seem that the future is bleak as reports have it that the album has been canceled altogether.

According to The Bitbag, Lamar is currently busy working with other artists. He is set to join Mac Miller in one of his songs for his upcoming album, "The Divine Feminine." Additionally, Lamar will also be assisting DJ Khaled in his new album and will be featured in ScHoolboy Q's song, "By Any Means," as part of his album, "Blank Face." Apart from that, Lamar is also said to be making appearances in various concerts, including the fifth Global Citizen Festival in New York City on Sept. 24.

As for J. Cole, reports say that the rapper is looking to hang up the microphone for good. This is, of course, just a rumor — one that was sparked by his lyrics on one of DJ Khaled's songs, "Major Key."

Perhaps a collaborative album is too much to ask for at this point. But it is also best for fans to take this news with a grain of salt until confirmations are made.
