Netflix scored another big hit with "Narcos," the drama that follows the life and death of Columbian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. There's no doubt that the network would capitalize on its success by coming out with another season, but will it be the last season for the popular series?

"Narcos" is one of those rare series that networks know would be a palpable hit as soon as its first episode aired. Netflix obviously recognized this and immediately renewed the series for a second season within a week after the premiere episode aired.

Season one is only 10 episodes long and follows the story of Escobar (Wagner Moura) and the agent tasked to find him and bring him to justice, Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook). The series also showed his rise from two-bit cocaine trader to a drug lord with a flourishing multi-billion drug cartel. The money he made from the drug trade made him one of the world's wealthiest men and also led to an increase in drug usage and crime in the US. "Narcos'" season one recounted the time from 1989 to 1992, the year when Escobar was able to escape from La Catedral prison.

The creative team behind "Narcos" crammed in a lot of information in season one's 10 episodes, generating concerns among fans that the series was moving too fast. Most feared that with the show's pace, the story "Narcos" is trying to tell will be all wrapped up by season two. With season one ending with Escobar's escape from prison, it appears that season two will focus on the manhunt for the drug lord that will ultimately end with his death in 1993.

Fans can expect to see some changes when "Narcos" returns for a second season. Some characters have already said their goodbyes while some new faces are expected to arrive. "Deadline" has reported that Holbrook's character, Stephen Murphy, will be gone next season. In his stead is "The Bridge's" Eric Lange, who will be breathing life to the role of Special Agent Stechner, the larger than life CIA agent who headed the agency's Medellin office. Stechner and DEA agent Javier Pena (Pedro Pascal) are known for investigating and bringing the notorious drug lord to justice.

"Ecumenical News" had previously reported that Netflix has not given any official date yet for the series, but that it's expected to be released in August 2016. As the site pointed out, the network tends to release a new season in the same month that the show premiered, so fans should be prepared to wait a little bit longer for their favourite TV show to arrive.
