'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date, news: Take-Two boss teases what to expect

(Facebook/rockstargames)"Red Dead Redemption 2" will arrive in the fall of 2017.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2," even though a specific date has yet to be announced. Regardless, the hype for the upcoming game is huge and Take-Two Interactive only seems to be adding fuel to the already-blazing fire.

There is no doubt that "Red Dead Redemption" has amassed a large fan following over the years. The first game was released back in 2010 to positive reception. Now, six years and many rumors later, Rockstar Games has finally confirmed that a sequel is in development and will hit store shelves in 2017.

CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' mother company, Strauss Zelnick recently teased what fans can expect from "Red Dead Redemption 2."

"You can expect there to be great story elements and great gameplay elements," Zelnick said at an MKM Partners event, reports GameSpot. He also acknowledges that the anticipation for the game is massive and that he was happy with the way the announcement was received.

Moreover, Zelnick explained what made the original game a success in the first place, adding that the sequel will also appeal to fans everywhere, saying, "the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again — and that's not meant to be cute."

Apart from that, the sequel will also feature "incredible emotional depth," something that was already apparent in the first trailer the studio released for "Red Dead Redemption 2."

As for the technicalities, the upcoming game will reportedly be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. And although neither Take-Two Interactive nor Rockstar Games has confirmed anything landing on the PC, it was previously reported that a PC version may still be made available but may not be released the same time as the console versions.

The sequel is also expected to sell a whopping 12 millions copies in its release period, if hype and popularity are anything to go by. An online mode was also teased, but details remain scarce for the time being.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released in fall 2017.
