'Rick and Morty' season 3 premiere rumors: Summer to join Rick and Morty's adventures

(Facebook/RickandMorty)"Rick and Morty" season 3 will premiere at the end of the year.

When "Rick and Morty" returns for its third season, the duo may be welcoming a new member. It is rumored that Summer will be more active in the upcoming season, joining experiments and tagging along adventures.

According to reports, Rick's granddaughter will take a more important role in season 3. Rick and Morty's dynamic is something that has long been established, which is what makes for great chemistry on the animated series. It remains to be seen how Summer will fit into the duo's adventures and how she will affect things.

There is also a rumor going around that a new character will be introduced in the third season. It is unknown who this character will be or what he/she will do on the show. "Rick and Morty" creators have always been quite secretive about their plans.

However, as it was previously reported, fans were treated to a little glimpse into what the season 3 will look like. Via the show's Twitter account, two concept art images were shown. The first one shows a guard of sorts. The creature had beady, red eyes, and bird's feet. Dressed in uniform, the Gromflamite Prison General is said to be the one guarding Rick in the Galactic Federation jail.

The second concept art shows Morty's garage, free of any of Rick's experiments. The unusually empty garage space hints at Rick's prolonged stay in jail, causing the others to put his things away.

Fans are undoubtedly excited about season 3, given with the way things ended in the second season. The previous season's finale saw Rick being captured by the Galactic Federation. It remains to be seen how he will get out, be it a planned escape or something else entirely.

While there has been some speculation about its release date, co-creator Dan Harmon has settled the rumors once and for all. Harmon revealed that the series will return at the end of the year.
