'The Walking Dead' news: Daryl, Glenn, Maggie and nasty-looking walkers in new photos

"The Walking Dead" will not be returning to the small screen until October, so it is no surprise that fans are soaking up anything to get their walker fill. Fortunately, fans of the show got a first look at the usual gang in action.

Followers of the horror drama television series, "The Walking Dead," already got a sneak peek of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan Jones (Lennie James) last month thanks to the first season six poster previously released.

They also saw the new season in motion at the San Diego Comic-Con where the trailer was first released. But nothing is ever enough for avid fans of the zombie show. Luckily, their clamor was answered by Entertainment Weekly by releasing a series of snapshots of favorite "The Walking Dead" characters.

The showbiz website posted three new photos of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) in what looks to be stills of the new season. Both Glenn and Maggie are armed with their guns, while Daryl has his handy-dandy crossbow.

Daryl does not seem to be in much trouble as his trusty weapon can clearly be seen still slung over his shoulder, however, Glenn and Maggie appear to be in danger, as they are pointing their guns at someone or something. Who or what is at the other end of the gun — other residents of Alexandria, the Wolves or the walkers — viewers will simply have to find out in the new season.

New walker photos were also posted by Cleveland.com and those walkers look nastier than ever. One of them was even seen tied to a tree with what looks like his own internal organs. Also, these new walkers look thinner than what fans were used to seeing in the previous seasons.

Also coming out pretty soon is the companion series, "Fear the Walking Dead." The new spin-off series will focus on the events 5 weeks before Rick woke up to the zombie apocalypse. "Fear the Walking Dead" premieres on Aug. 23.

"The Walking Dead" season six pilots this Oct. 11 with a 90-minute episode.
