Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is set to revolutionize the minivan segment with the introduction of the 2017 Pacifica, replacing the Town & Country nameplate. The all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan comes with innovations and features never before seen in this category, especially in terms of functionality, versatility and technology.

"The all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is truly a no-compromises minivan, giving customers everything they need or want," said Timothy Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands, FCA – North America. "The all-new Chrysler Pacifica was thoughtfully designed and engineered to provide unsurpassed levels of comfort, convenience, technology and functionality, making it the perfect combination for modern families."

In terms of design, the Pacifica minivan comes with sculpted styling, a fluid silhouette and athletic proportions. It also comes with a unique grille pattern and wheel design. The Chrysler Pacifica was also built using an all-new platform that uses a lightweight and stiffer chassis. This makes the minivan more responsive and delivers class-leading ride and handling. The aerodynamic features also help contribute to fuel economy.

Chrysler will be offering the 2017 Pacifica with two efficient powertrain options. The first is the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 gasoline engine that produces 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated with a TorqueFlite nine-speed automatic transmission.

The second option would be a Pacifica Hybrid, making it the first electric minivan in the market. The hybrid features a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides up to 30 miles of driving range. It also comes with two electric motors and an electrically variable transmission.

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica will be available in five trim levels – LX, Touring, Touring-L, Touring-L Plus, Limited and Platinum.

Inside the minivan, the interiors also come with a sculpted and muscular design. It has a "vault-like" quality as the cabin cancels out wind and road noise as well as vibrations. Therefore, the eight-passenger minivan delivers a comfortable ride experience during daily commutes or extended road trips.

Chrysler has also given its new minivan the latest technologies including the UConnect Theater entertainment system which includes a 7-inch driver information display and an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. At the rear, there are two 10-inch HD displays for passengers to watch movies, play games and connect to the Internet. The Pacifica comes standard with a premium six-speaker audio system with noise cancellation.

Safety features include a 360-degree Surround View camera, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning-Plus.

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan will arrive at dealers by spring 2016. The hybrid variant will arrive during the second half of the year. Pricing information will be released closer to its official launch date.
