Android 5.0 Lollipop update: AT&T Galaxy Note 3 and 4 owners get their hands on update

(Reuters)

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update has finally been rolled out by AT&T to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and its older version the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, as reported in this article at Mobile Burn. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has been one of Samsung's most popular products as it has established a strong foothold on the burgeoning phablet market, with strong sales performances and even better customer reviews. The new Android update should help improve the stability and operation of the Galaxy Note 4.

More surprising is the immediate addition of the Galaxy Note 3 to the applicable devices that can be updated to the latest Android update. The device is already over a year old and while some international versions are already applicable for the update, rumors suggested that the Galaxy Note 3 would receive the update at a much later time. Credit should go to AT&T and Samsung for providing the update simultaneously with the Galaxy Note 4.

Mobile Burn is reporting, however, that the update for the Galaxy Note 3 clocks in at a hefty 1GB, certainly a sizable one but something that can't be overcome given time.

Highlights of the software update include seamless integration with multiple Android devices. This means that content such as music, photos, and apps can immediately be used across all of a user's Android devices. Also included in the content update is a newly designed user interface to create a more fluid user experience all around.

The rest of the improvements, per Mobile Burn, are:

Priority mode to only allow certain notifications to get through

Battery saving features and remaining time left to charge or deplete indicators

Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car

Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen
