Apple is rumored to be gearing up for a media event taking place mid-March or early-June, close to the 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Numerous reports have surmised that during the event, Apple will be unveiling some of its new products including the 4-inch iPhone, the iPad Air 3 and the latest lineup of MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops.

Last January, KGI Securities analyst and Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo also revealed that Apple's newest MacBook laptops would be updated during the first half of 2016 and that the MacBook Pro laptops would arrive during the second half of the year.

While the 2016 editions of the MacBook Pro may be introduced during the Apple media event, MacRumors has reported that Apple will likely adopt a staggered release strategy for the new MacBook Pro laptops. The 13-inch MacBook Pro may be released by March and the 15-inch MacBook Pro will follow during the third quarter of 2016.

In terms of specs, the Cupertino-based tech giant has remained tightlipped about its upcoming releases. However, it is almost certain that the upcoming 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops will be shipping out with the latest Intel Skylake processors.

Compared to the current MacBook Pro models equipped with the Intel Haswell processor, the sixth-generation Intel Skylake processors will come with faster CPU speeds, improved graphics, more efficient use of power and a longer battery life.

With more and more competitors releasing laptops with 4K displays, Apple may also make a move to improve its Retina display laptops. Rumors point to the 2016 laptops gaining higher-resolution displays.

It is also likely that Apple will integrate some of the features seen in the 2015 MacBook laptop including a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt and the Force Touch trackpad. The soon-to-be unveiled MacBook Pro laptops will also ship with the current OS X El Capitan.

Stay tuned for all the latest news and updates regarding the 2016 MacBook Pro laptops.
