'Attack on Titan' game happening; Koei Tecmo in charge of development

(Koei Tecmo America)The "Attack on Titan" game will be out on Aug. 30 and will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Hajime Isayama's "Attack on Titan" manga series has been made into a hit anime followed by two equally successful movie adaptations, and due to its growing fanbase, the recently merged Japan-based video game companies, Koei and Tecmo, will have the privilege in developing the game version of the popular manga and anime franchise.

Koei Tecmo is the same company that brought the "Dynasty Warriors" franchise, including "Berserk." Things will be a whole lot different though with what the video game company is about to do with the "Attack of Titan" title. As compared to the mentioned "Dynasty Warriors" and "Berserk" game series, where characters wield insanely sized swords and could single-handedly finish off an army of charging enemy troops with a single blow, the "Attack on Titan" game will be dealing with massive human-like monsters known as titans that love to chow down on humans.

The game will remain faithful to the elements in the anime series, and it was reported that Koei Tecmo will follow the events of "Attack on Titan" season 1.

Furthermore, the gameplay of the said title features a lot of jumping, grappling, and fast-paced action, which is difficult to incorporate into a game; however, Koei Tecmo was able to accomplish it. In addition, Polygon reported that the three-dimensional maneuver gear, which is somewhat of a battle suit in going up against the gigantic titans will be quite a handful. Players may find it difficult to use at first, but as they progress in the game, they will eventually get the hang of it.

Another feature and probably the most interesting of all is the titan mode. Characters can become a titan as when the need arises, which can definitely be a game changer.

The game is said to be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Aug. 30.
