By now, it is common knowledge that Rihanna is set to play Marion Crane in the fifth and final season of "Bates Motel." But who will portray her boyfriend, Sam Loomis?
According to TVLine, a casting call for Sam has already been put out by the series. However, an actor has yet to be decided upon. At this rate, the publication notes that a casting call for Lila, Marion's sister, is bound to go up any time soon.
And while everyone knows that Marion will end up dead in the series as she did in the film "Psycho," it remains to be seen whether the showrunners will take some liberties when it comes to execution. In Alfred Hitchcock's film, Marion was stabbed multiple times, while she was in the shower. However, in the book by Robert Bloch upon which Hitchcock's film was based, Marion got her head chopped off. It is unknown how Marion will die this time around, but one thing is for sure: fans are excited to see Rihanna act again.
As for what else the upcoming season is set to bring to the table, a new Norma (Vera Farmiga) will greet viewers hello as the series explores Norman's (Freddie Highmore) version of his mother. Norma was murdered by her own son in the season 4 finale, but Norman dug up her corpse and is presumably going to lay her out as his character did in "Psycho."
The upcoming season will be the series' last. And although some fans were disappointed with the decision to end it quite quickly, a definite and satisfying ending is far better than stretching the show out for too long in exchange for a decline in quality. The final season will see two cast members directing an episode each. As previously reported, Max Thieriot, who plays Dylan, will be directing the fourth episode, while Nestor Carbonell, who plays Alex Romero, will be directing the fifth.
"Bates Motel" season 5 will premiere in 2017.
