Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are returning for the third Bridget Jones film, "Bridget Jones' Baby." They will be joined by Grammy Award nominee Ed Sheeran, as confirmed by the singer himself.

Word of Ed Sheeran joining the cast of "Bridget Jones' Baby" started back in October as some fans spotted the film crew taking some shots during his concert. Early this week, the English singer-songwriter confirms his involvement via Instagram.

A few days ago, Sheeran posted a photo of himself on Instagram where he looked like he was taking a group photo with Renée Zellweger and a bunch of other people on the background. He captioned it, "Spent the day being an actor in the new Bridget Jones movie. Loved it, you're gonna love it too."

This is not the 24-year old singer's venture into acting. On top of appearance in shows "Shortland Street" last year and "Undateable" plus "Home and Away" this year, he also made his acting debut with FX's "The Bastard Executioner." He guest starred as Sir Cormac, a church leader's sadistic protégé.

The singer is still very much involved in his music amidst all these TV appearances. He has just kicked off his Australian tour with Brisbane, reports Mail Online.

"Bridget Jones' Baby" is the third movie in the Bridget Jones series and is still based on the writings of Helen Fielding. As mentioned, Zellweger and Firth are returning in their sae roles, Bridget and Mark Darcy respectively. Hugh Grant, who was the charming third party Daniel Cleaver in the previous two movies, will no longer be starring. In his place is Patrick Dempsey in a still unnamed role. Filming started almost two months ago in London, with Sharon Maguire sitting in the director's chair. it should be remembered that Maguire also directed "Bridget Jones' Diary."

"Bridget Jones' Baby" is expected in theatres on Sept. 16, 2016.
